🌍 HAKUNA MATATA VOLUNTEER WEEK 2027

MORE THAN VOLUNTEERING — A WEEK YOU WILL NEVER FORGET

Hakuna Matata Volunteer Week 2027 is already booking up fast!

Our provisional dates are mid-June 2027, with final dates to be confirmed.

Come to Kenya. Come to Solai. Come to Le Chéile Africa.

Experience the real Kenya, get involved in community projects, meet incredible people and become part of something much bigger than yourself.

❤️ ONE FAMILY • ONE TRIBE • ONE JOURNEY

Hakuna Matata Volunteer Week is an immersive experience bringing people from Ireland and beyond together with the communities of Solai, Nakuru.

It is about people, connection, culture, compassion and action.

It is about rolling up your sleeves, getting involved, meeting people, sharing experiences and seeing first-hand what can happen when people work together.

🌍 WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?

No two Hakuna Matata weeks are exactly the same, but you can expect a packed programme of community involvement, cultural experiences, adventure and plenty of craic!

🏫 SIGITO SCHOOL & EDUCATION SUPPORT

Spend time at Sigito School and see our Education Support Programme in action.

Meet pupils and teachers, experience the school environment and learn about the challenges facing children in rural communities.

You may get involved in activities, education support, the school feeding programme and other projects taking place during your visit.

❤️ SPECIAL UNIT & DAYCARE

Visit the Le Chéile Africa Special Unit and Integrated ECDE / Whistle Daycare Centre.

Meet the children and the dedicated team and learn about our “Ability Not Disability” approach.

It is an opportunity to see inclusive education and community support in action.

🏥 COMMUNITY HEALTHCARE

Visit the Le Chéile Africa Health Clinic and learn about healthcare provision in rural Kenya.

Depending on the programme, volunteers may learn about the clinic's services and community outreach work.

💧 CLEAN WATER — WATER IS LIFE

Experience our Free Clean Water Project and see the importance of reliable access to clean water within the community.

You will quickly discover that something many of us take for granted can mean everything to a family here.

Water is life.

🍲 FOOD & COMMUNITY

Spend time with Wesley's Munch Soup Kitchen & Dave's Diner.

Experience the preparation and distribution of hot meals and meet members of the community who benefit from the programme.

Volunteers may also become involved in food hamper distribution and community outreach.

🏠 HOME & COMMUNITY VISITS

Some of the most meaningful moments can come during our home and community visits.

You may accompany the Le Chéile Africa team to meet families and experience everyday life in rural Kenya.

Some visits can be emotional.

Some will make you laugh.

Some may stay with you forever.

Above all, they are about respect, dignity, compassion and human connection.

🌱 AGRICULTURE & SELF-SUSTAINABILITY

Visit the Zeus Packaging Zero Graze Training Farm and Avocado Orchard.

The farm is part of our long-term vision of developing agricultural training, skills, food production and sustainable income opportunities within the community.

It is about moving beyond simply providing support and helping create opportunities that can contribute to a more self-sustaining future.

The journey has only begun.

🛝 COMMUNITY PROJECTS

Depending on the programme during your visit, you may see or become involved with projects including:

🇮🇪 Irish culture, humour and craic

And sometimes the best moments are the ones that aren't on the itinerary.

🤝 COME AS A VOLUNTEER — LEAVE AS FAMILY

Hakuna Matata is not about arriving with all the answers.

You come to listen, learn, experience and contribute.

You will see challenges.

But you will also see resilience, humour, friendship, determination, hope and incredible community spirit.

You may arrive thinking you are coming to make a difference.

You may leave realising that the experience changed you too.

❤️ WHAT WE ASK FROM YOU

Come with:

An open mind.
An open heart.
Respect.
Patience.
Energy.
Humility.
A willingness to get involved.

You don't need to be an expert.

You simply need to be willing to stand alongside people and be part of something bigger than yourself.

🌍 HAKUNA MATATA 2027

And discovering what can happen when Ireland and Kenya come together as one community.
